Two sleeps left until the Toronto Blue Jays home opener this Friday. If you are looking for tickets, you’re out of luck. CHCH News confirmed today it will be a sold out game versus the Athletics.

Today we got a sneak peek of the new renovations and what fans can expect.

“We have Joe Carter’s bat from the walk-off home run to win the World Series in 1993,” said Jeff Holloway, director of special projects for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Those fans lucky enough to get tickets for Friday’s game will get to see the Jays’ two world series trophies and other memorabilia from their playoff teams on the 100 level concourse.

“We have George Bell’s jersey when he fell to his knees to clinch the first American League East Division championship for the Blue Jays in ’85,” said Holloway.

Fans can expect some new menu items this year when at the ballpark.

“Knowing where you come from, going through the seasons, being a Blue Jays fan myself – it really helps to bring those items to life,” said Mathew Munro, executive chef with Legends Global at the Rogers Centre.

They’ve come a long way from Exhibition Stadium when it was either pizza or a hotdog. Some new items this year include beef shawarma in a bowl and a vegetarian steak option.

When it comes to fan merchandise, there are many options.

“Being able to really invest in merch that both men and women can wear not just to the game but also out on the street,” said Andrew Boswell, director of retail and merchandise with the Toronto Blue Jays.

There’s also a new luxury spot in the arena called Rogers Terrace. Views from the 200 level premium space behind home plate are sold out and are currently waitlist only.

“The greatest news is they don’t need to have the luxury suite if they don’t want to. They don’t need to have the club. They can still have that Exhibition Stadium experience where you just hang in your seat, you get pizza, you get a hotdog,” said Michelle Seniuk, SVP of fan experience and concessions with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Promotional souvenirs are in full swing this season as well.

“It’s really fun to be able to take some of those viral moments like him [Vladimir Guerrero Jr.] talking about being born ready and wanting it all for the city, and being able to put that into a bobble head,” said Jess Wood, director of promotions with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Jays open their regular season officially this Friday at 7:07 p.m. in Toronto.
