Porter looks to expand
Porter Airline’s 2 billion dollar conditional purchase of quiet, fuel efficient jets from Bombardier won’t go ahead unless three authorities change the rules that ban commercial jets from using Toronto Island Airport.
The federal government, City of Toronto and Toronto Port Authority have to rewrite the rules barring commercial jets from Billy Bishop Airport.
They also have to allow the lengthening of the runway by 168 metres on both ends.
If Porter doesn’t get permission, the deal to buy 12 new jets, with options to buy another 18, from Bombardier is off.
