Niagara police are trying to identify a man killed in a head-on collision involving a minivan and ATV.

Emergency crews were called to a serious crash in the area of Caistorville Rd. near Concession 3 around 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police say a black CAN-AM side-by-side ATV and a black Honda Odyssey were involved in a serious collision.

The driver of the ATV was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say four adults were inside the minivan at the time of the crash. Three of the passengers suffered minor to serious injuries while the fourth person was transported to hospital where they remain in critical condition.

“The ATV was demolished. The Honda was also heavily damaged,” police said in a news release.

Detectives are working to identify the ATV driver who was killed in the crash.

He is described as being white, between 25 and 35 years of age, roughly 170 lbs, with a slim build, short dark brown hair, a dark brown beard, a longer goatee and no visible tattoos.

The man was wearing dark beige work pants, boots, knee pads similar to ones worn in the sheet metal or roofing industry, a dark-coloured motocross enclosed helmet with goggles and a blue hooded sweatshirt with a Sheet Metal Workers of Ontario logo.

Police are asking any families with overdue family members or businesses with employees who have not shown up to work to contact detectives.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is also asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009089.
