Police lay charges in 2025 shooting at central Hamilton business

Police have laid charges in connection with a shooting at a business in central Hamilton last year.

It happened on May 9, 2025 at a business in the area of Main Street East and East Avenue South.

A 50-year-old Hamilton man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, detectives executed search warrants at a home in Ancaster linked to the shooting investigation and another drug probe.

Officers seized a “significant” quantity of illegal drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine, as well as 9mm ammunition, cell phones and digital scales.

Investigators arrested two people, one of whom was charged in connection with the shooting last year.

Mahamud Ibrahim, 45, of Hamilton has been charged with:

  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – loaded
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm
  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to court order (x9)
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Proceeds of crime under $5,000

Marcela Manriquez, 39, of Hamilton has been charged with:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Proceeds of crime under $5,000

Although charges have been laid, police say the investigation is ongoing.
