Police identify pedestrian killed in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday

Niagara police have identified the pedestrian struck and killed earlier this week in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Police were called to the area of Lakeshore Rd. and McNab Rd. around 7:30 a.m. on Monday to assist an ambulance call.

A man was found dead on the side of the road. He’s now been identified as Matthew Wilson, 40, of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Investigators determined the man had been struck by a driver in a Ford F150 pickup truck.

Police say the driver, who has been identified, was travelling eastbound on Lakeshore Rd. when the pedestrian was hit by the passenger side of the vehicle.

Detectives with the collision reconstruction unit are still investigating.
