Police charge three, seize loaded firearm in Hamilton drug bust

Hamilton police have charged three individuals and recovered a loaded firearm after an overnight drug investigation in the city’s downtown core.

On Wednesday at around 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to a parking lot near John Street South and Jackson Street West after receiving a report of a pickup truck occupied by three individuals who appeared to be intoxicated and asleep.

Upon arrival, investigators strategically positioned their patrol vehicles to prevent the truck from being driven.

As detectives approached the vehicle, they observed suspected drugs in plain sight. All three occupants were then arrested.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of about 32 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime and a loaded Glock handgun.

The suspects arrested are a 37-year-old Flamborough man, 19-year-old man with no fixed address and a 36-year-old Burlington woman.

The accused collectively face several drug-related charges including the possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
