Toronto police arrested a man Wednesday connected to a series of robberies in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in the month of February.

Officers from multiple police departments in the Toronto, Guelph, Peel, Halton, Niagara and Hamilton areas say they responded to a total of 16 robbery incidents between Feb. 8 to Feb. 25.

They report that 14 robberies were at financial institutions, and two were at retail stores.

Investigators say at each robbery, a man had displayed a knife and demanded an employee for cash. In multiple incidents the man wore a mask to disguise themselves.

Following a joint investigation between police departments, officers identified and arrested 52-year-old Alan Haaksma from Oakville.

Police have charged him with 16 counts of robbery with an offensive weapon, seven counts of disguise with intent, and two counts of possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Hamilton Police posted on X at around 11:10 a.m. Wednesday that the suspect was identified and arrested.
