Pedestrian, 91, dies after being struck by vehicle driven by 81-year-old on Hamilton Mountain

A 91-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle driven by an 81-year-old woman on Hamilton Mountain on Tuesday night.

Hamilton police say the incident happened around 8:35 p.m. in the area of Stone Church Road and Upper Wellington Street.

The woman was walking westbound within the bike lane with a mobility walker when she was struck from behind by a Hyundai driven by the other woman.

She was transported to Hamilton General Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and later died.

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been laid at this time.

Motorists who were in the area at the time of the collision are asked to review their dash-camera footage. Nearby residents and businesses are also asked to check any surveillance footage.
