Overnight multiple-alarm house fire on Hamilton Mountain

Police are holding the scene of an overnight multiple-alarm house fire on Hamilton Mountain.

Emergency crews responded to the blaze near Mountain Brow Boulevard and Upper Ottawa Street around 1:25 a.m.

It was quickly upgraded to a multiple-alarm fire according to posts on Hamilton Fire Department’s incident dashboard.

Police tell CHCH News the house is vacant and no one was hurt. Damage appears to be localized to the back and roof of the structure.

There has been no confirmation yet about the fire being investigated as suspicious.

The scene will be held until later this morning to determine next steps and if the Office of the Fire Marshal needs to be called in.
