Hamilton’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wins back-to-back NBA MVP awards

Hamilton’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander today became the 14th NBA player to win back-to-back NBA MVP awards.

The Oklahoma City Thunder guard averaged 31.1 points per game leading his team to a league-leading 64-18 record as the Thunder pursue a second consecutive NBA title.

Gilgeous-Alexander received 83 first place votes, winning in a landslide over Denver’s Nicola Jokic, who had 10 first place votes. The San Antonio Spurs Victor Wembanyama was third with five first place votes.

The Thunder are currently undefeated in the playoffs and start the Western Conference finals against the Spurs on Monday.
