Over 9,900 Hamilton homes, businesses out of power

Homes and businesses in Hamilton are experiencing power outages due to a supply issue according to a utility organization on Tuesday.

Alectra Utilities reports that there is a widespread power outage in the area of Parkdale Ave. to Grays Rd. and North Service Rd. to Greenhill Ave. of Hamilton.

The outage happened at 12 p.m. and the cause of the outage is a supply problem from Hydro One says Alectra Utilities in an announcement.

Crewmembers have been dispatched to restore electricity. The estimated time for power restoration is 4 p.m. on Tuesday says Alectra Utilities.

Anyone that spots a downed line or a tree branch resting on a power line, is asked not to touch or attempt to remove the wire. It’s recommended to stay a minimum of 10 metres (33 feet) from the wire.

Anyone that comes across a downed power line is asked to call 911 and Alectra Utilities’ 24-hour hotline at (1-833-253-2872).
