On the Friday list, there were 266 Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their families who hoped to cross into Egypt at the Rafah border crossing.

However, no Canadians could cross officially on Wednesday due to a “security circumstance” as described by a U.S. State Department spokesperson.

On Thursday, 32 people connected to Canada were able to flee the war-torn area.

Global Affairs Canada says 550 more people were still hoping to leave the territory as of late Thursday.

According to reports, some Canadians have now arrived back while others are still in Cairo, Egypt.
