Ontario’s opposition parties were on the attack today as the Liberals prepare to present their budget. With accusations ranging from wasting money to cronyism, some are speculating an election is around the corner.
Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath was charged up over electricity rates.
“We put forward a concrete plan to stop discounting hydro at a discount rate. Why is the government more interested in the status quo than trying something new to create jobs? ”
Tory Lisa MacLeod referenced the resignation of Alberta premier Allison Redford.
“We had a premier last night in this nation who resigned over a $45,000 expense scandal. Now she (wynne) has a $4.5 billion expense scandal.”
NDP house leader Gilles Bisson took aim at cronyism.
“The next day, what do you do, you appoint Sandra Pupatello as chair of hydro. Can you tell me how that is different from the past from the McGuinty government before you?”
The Liberals are expected to release their budget either late this month or in early April.
