Open Streets Hamilton set to take over 3 km of King Street this Sunday
Over 3 km of King Street in Hamilton will be closed to motor vehicle traffic for parts of Sunday for Open Streets Hamilton event.
King Street from John Street to Gage Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with event activities taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The program is designed to promote physical activity, environmental sustainability and social inclusion, by providing a chance for local residents to build connections within the community.
The road will be open for people to walk, bike, or skate, or to take part in one of the interactive booths, pop-up experiences and other activities.
The following intersections will remain open to crossing vehicles:
- John Street;
- Wellington Street;
- Victoria Avenue;
- Wentworth Street;
- Sanford Avenue;
- Sherman Avenue and;
- Gage Avenue.
Five activation hubs will be located along King Street, at John Street, Wellington Street North, Wentworth Street, Sherman Street and at the Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre.
Three mini hubs will also be found at Ferguson Station through the International Village BIA, The Kitchen Collective Food Court and at the Barnsdale Mini Hub.
