Ontario reports 733 COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths

Ontario reported 733 cases of COVID-19 and 25 deaths on Wednesday, as the stay-at-home order has expired.

The reported positivity rate is 2.8 per cent, with the province completing 31,768 tests in the last day.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 20,655 total cases — up 61 from Tuesday
  • 19,327 resolved cases
  • 494 active cases
  • 71 in hospital
  • 389 deaths — up one from Tuesday

Niagara

  • 15,804 total cases — up 39 from Tuesday
  • 14,797 resolved cases
  • 601 active cases
  • 406 deaths
  • 24 in hospital

Brant

  • 3,276 total cases — up 11 from Tuesday
  • 3,175 resolved cases
  • 81 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 3 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,649 total cases — up two from Tuesday
  • 2,558 resolved cases
  • 46 active cases
  • 46 deaths

There are 139,901 vaccine doses administered in the province on Tuesday. There are 781,163 people in the province who have received both required doses.

The number of patients in hospital with COVID-19 in Ontario is down to 708. There are 576 people in intensive care with 399 of them on ventilators.

The death toll is now 8,791 people.

Another 1,733 cases have been marked as resolved.

Premier Doug Ford is expected to announce whether or not schools in the province will reopen on Wednesday afternoon.
