Ontario reports 1,837 COVID-19 cases and 58 deaths

Ontario reported 1,837 cases of COVID-19 and 58 deaths on Friday, as Premier Doug Ford is expected make an announcement in the afternoon.

The results come as the province completed 69,040 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were performed is 3.3 per cent – the same as Thursday.

Another 10,215 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered, according to the province. As of 8 p.m. Thursday, it’s given 327,455 doses and fully vaccinated 61,679 people.

Another 2,900 cases of the virus have been marked as resolved.

Ontario is reporting 1,837 cases of #COVID19 and over 69,000 tests completed. Locally, there are 595 new cases in Toronto, 295 in Peel, and 170 in York Region.

As of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, 327,455 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Health officials say the U.K. variant of COVID-19 has been identified in Haldimand-Norfolk.

Six Nations

• 147 total cases
• 134 resolved cases
• 12 active cases
• 1 death

There are 1,291 patients hospitalized with COVID-19,which is down from the 1,338 patients reported on Thursday. There are 360 in intensive care with 271 of them on ventilators.
