The Ontario government is rewarding the Town of Milton with $8.4 million through the third round of the Building Faster Fund.

This program is providing funding to municipalities that achieve at least 80 per cent of their provincially designated housing targets.

In 2025, Milton exceeded its annual target by 28 per cent, breaking ground on 2,699 new homes.

The funding will help the town build more homes, community infrastructure and invest in projects that support economic growth and keep workers on the job.

“As we look to the future, our government will continue creating the conditions municipal partners like Milton need to kickstart the housing sector. More shovels in the ground mean greater affordability, more people working, and a stronger economy,” said Rob Flack, minister of municipal affairs and housing.

Announced in August 2023, the Building Faster Fund is a three-year, $1.2 billion program that is designed to encourage municipalities to speed up approval processes and get more homes built faster.

The program rewards municipalities that make significant progress against their targets by providing funding for housing-enabling and community-enabling infrastructure.

“This commitment will help deliver essential infrastructure — from stormwater systems to road expansion and renewal — that supports housing in our growing community. It will also play a key role in advancing connected, complete neighbourhoods and reinforcing Milton as a Place of Possibility,” Mayor of Milton Gordon Krantz said.

Ontario is investing nearly $35 million in Halton Region municipalities through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program to help build about 28,000 new homes. This includes over $10 million for the Town of Milton.
