Oakville woman among 29 people to be appointed to Order of Ontario

A woman from Oakville is one of 29 people that will be appointed to the 2024 Order of Ontario next Monday for her work supporting communities in need.
29 people will be invested at a ceremony held in Toronto, where they will receive one of the province’s highest civilian honours for outstanding achievements.
Edith Dumont, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will be formally investing the appointees at the ceremony.
Juliana Sprott, the chief giving officer of The Sprott Foundation, will be recognized for her support of underserved communities and aiding community-driven projects.
Sprott is a philanthropist with a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
She has championed projects to provide $40 million to Community Food Centres Canada and Second Harvest, and transformational homelessness prevention projects with $5 million to The WoodGreen Foundation.
The Order of Ontario is reserved for people who have made a lasting impact in the province, Canada, and the world.
Their achievements can come from different fields, including public service, technology, the arts, and health care.
There are 903 people appointed to the Order of Ontario since it was established in 1986.
