Residents of Tawny Crescent in Oakville are coming to terms tonight with a shooting on their street. Yesterday morning, Halton police were called after a victim was shot in his driveway.
Mark Corby, an Oakville resident, says, “It’s a great neighborhood, but all you have to do is turn on the news and realize it happens in all kinds of neighborhoods like this.”
Halton Regional Police are investigating the daytime shooting on Tawny Crescent in Oakville. At around 10:28 a.m. yesterday, police say an adult male was shot outside his home. A vehicle was seen approaching the man’s home, and an individual was seen exiting the vehicle to immediately confront the victim. During this interaction, the victim was shot.
One resident we spoke to today, who did not want to appear on camera, witnessed the victim enter the ambulance on his own after being shot in the upper body.
Yesterday, police told CHCH News that the victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. We reached out to Halton police for an interview and an update on the victim, but they were unavailable for comment.
Many residents we spoke to did not want to appear on camera because they are still reeling from the shock of this happening in their neighborhood. However, of the residents who did speak to us on camera, they expressed concern about the level of violence in their community.
Police say the victim appears to have been targeted, and the Major Crime Bureau is now leading the investigation. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact Halton Regional Police.
