1 woman killed, 1 seriously injured after hit and run in Niagara Falls
One woman was killed and another woman was seriously injured after a hit-and-run early Saturday morning in Niagara Falls.
Niagara regional police responded to a serious collision near Drummond road near Barker Street where they found two people laying on the street having been allegedly struck by a car.
A 44-year-old woman from Niagara Falls was found to be in critical condition and a 31-year-old woman, also from Niagara Falls, was nearby with serious injuries.
Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the 44-year-old woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 31-year-old woman was treated by paramedics and transported to an out-of-region hospital for further care.
The names of both women have not been released.
Officers find driver crashed nearby
Niagara police attended a second call around half-an-hour later to Culp Street near Drummond road, where they found a grey Acura Integra that had crashed into two parked cars with it’s driver still in the vehicle.
Investigators linked this vehicle and driver to the driver that failed to remain at the scene involving the two hit women.
Officers arrested 31-year-old John Franco Bonaldo from Niagara Falls just after 1 a.m. who is facing charges involving failing to stop and for driving while impaired causing death.
Bonaldo was held in custody for a video bail hearing to a St. Catharines courthouse later that Saturday.
