Taylor Swift fans fall victim to Burlington-based ticket scam

A major scam involving the sale of fake Taylor Swift tickets is unfolding in Burlington.

According to the victims, hundreds of people were scammed out of thousands of dollars from all over Canada and some parts of the U.S., and the accused scammer is a Burlington resident.

Many of the tickets were purchased by connecting with the Burlington woman over text or social media, then e-transferring her the money. But as the weekend approached, the tickets were never delivered.

Over the past 24 hours, many people who have fallen victim to this scam have connected. They now say hundreds of fake tickets were sold, resulting in over $200,000 lost.

CHCH called the Burlington woman who sold the fake tickets. In a brief conversation, she states she has also fallen victim to a scam and has filed a police report.
