Hamilton Police detectives are following up on a north end shooting that sent three people to hospital late last night.
Police finished at the scene around noon, removing the police tape and opening up the area. Two police cars remained behind to guard a car left behind at the scene.
Three men were shot on MacNab St N around 10:30 last night. Residents CHCH News spoke to say they heard multiple gunshots. The men in their late teens and early 20s are in hospital in stable condition.
According to witnesses one man was shot twice in the chest and the other men were shot in the legs. Police say the two men were seen firing handguns at the men who were standing near the street. They then took off in a dark vehicle. They are still looking for those suspects.
CHCH News spoke to some of the residents. “Three or four shots I heard, and when I came out I saw what looked to be a black SUV or a Ford Edge just go barreling
here through the intersection. It is a little upsetting, because it’s a nice neighbourhood, so it’s a little shocking to be so close.”
“This has never been here before, I’ve been here 55 years. Never seen anything like this.”
Cst Steve Welton told CHCH News, “Anything like this in a residential neighbourhood, with children and families, we’re very fortunate that nobody was injured last night as a result of it.”
Police believe this was a targeted attack and they say the three men were known to them. The police are still looking to speak to any witnesses in the area who may have seen anything last night
