No one injured in Burlington residential structure fire

Burlington fire crews were called to an early morning residential structure fire near New Street on Monday.

The City of Burlington says that the blaze started in the basement of a home on Tamarac Drive shortly after 6 a.m.

Two people were inside at the time of the fire and successfully evacuated. One person was initially reported injured, but a spokesperson for the Burlington Fire Department says no one was hurt.

Twenty-one firefighters and eight emergency vehicles responded to the incident.

The suspected cause of the fire is electrical failure, with damages currently estimated at $500,000.

The department says the Office of the Fire Marshal was notified but will not be attending the scene.

Burlington fire remains on site to conduct the investigation.
