No injuries in Oakville storage unit fire that caused delays for morning commute

A fire at an Oakville business caused a visual distraction for drivers on the westbound QEW near Trafalgar Road early Wednesday morning.

The Oakville Fire Department says the fire happened at Access Storage at 1195 North Service Rd.

Halton police confirmed they blocked a portion of North Service Road East from Invicta to Joshua Creek drives to respond at about 5:15 a.m.

Crews said smoke and flames were visible upon arrival.

The fire had spread to multiple storage units while crews established cut offs to prevent the fire from spreading to additional units.

Six fire apparatus and one command officer responded.

No firefighter injuries and no injuries to members of the public were reported.

A town salt truck arrived to reduce the risk of developing ice conditions, and some diking has been placed near neighbouring buildings to reduce potential water damage.

An investigation of the units involved is underway.
