A Brampton man is facing sexual assault charges after he allegedly used online job advertisements to exploit women seeking employment.
Halton police said the charges stem from two separate investigations, with offences that happened in March and December of last year.
Police said in two separate incidents, the accused posted “help wanted” advertisements on Kijiji for entry-level data entry positions.
Investigators believe the accused specifically targeted female victims who were new to Canada.
Detectives allege that after the suspect arranged interviews, the victims were picked up by the accused and driven to isolated industrial parking lots.
In one situation, police say a victim was sexually assaulted. In a separate incident, a victim was allegedly offered employment opportunities that required a sexual relationship with the accused.
One incident happened in Milton and the other in Halton Hills.
On Monday, 47-year-old Tejinder Dhaliwal of Brampton was arrested by Halton police in Brampton. He now faces sexual assault and obtaining sexual services for consideration charges.
Dhaliwal was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday and subsequently released on the same date.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have information, or who believes they were victimized by Dhaliwal, to contact the HRPS Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.
