No hostages will be released before Friday in Israel-Hamas temporary ceasefire deal

Israel has agreed to a four-day pause in fighting in Gaza, and in exchange, Hamas will begin releasing at least 50 hostages.

The pause has the potential to be extended, if Hamas agrees to release more of the 240 people it took during the October 7th attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Israel will continue in its war with Hamas once the temporary ceasefire is over.

For more on this, we’re joined by former Canadian ambassador to Israel, Jon Allen. He’s a senior fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs, and the chair of Project Rozana Canada – a non-profit that builds bridges between Israelis and Palestinians.
