Niagara students participate in lemon twist competition ahead of Mountainview LemonAID Day

Young people from the Niagara region came together Wednesday to vie for the title of “Lemon Twist Champion” ahead of Mountainview LemonAID Day in June.

Students from Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Thorold and Welland participated in the competition to see who could juice lemons the fastest.

Local politicians such as Thorold Mayor Ugulini and Welland Mayor Frank Campion cheered on the participants.

Aside from earning the title of “Lemon Twist Champion,” the focus of the event was to raise awareness about their event on June 12.

On Mountainview LemonAID Day, kids across Niagara will set up stands to sell lemonade and raise funds to send local kids to summer camp. Everything they need to run a successful stand will also be provided for free.

“Summer camp has so many social and emotional benefits for kids,” said Caroline Polgrabia, president of the FACS Niagara Foundation Board.

“This event is also a tremendous opportunity for young people to demonstrate their leadership by helping other kids. We’ve had registrations come in for LemonAID stands across Niagara, and we are excited to see stands in every municipality on June 12.”
