Niagara police have laid 27 more charges against a man from Welland, who was arrested in August 2024 for the alleged sexual assault of a child.

Officers say the additional offences are alleged to have happened between May 4, 2024, and Aug. 29, 2024, in the cities of Welland and St. Catharines.

Police have charged Sean Mezo with six additional counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, seven counts of trespassing at night near a house, and 14 counts of voyeurism.

These charges are in addition to previous counts of trespassing, voyeurism and criminal harassment that were laid against him when he was placed in custody in August 2024.

Investigators previously released Mezo’s photo and name in the interest of public safety in an attempt to identify other potential victims or witnesses.

Mezo has been held in custody since Aug. 29, 2024, and is scheduled to appear at a St. Catharines courthouse Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
