Five puppies were found dead Tuesday morning at a park in St. Catharines.

A spokesperson for the Humane Society of Greater Niagara says they received the report around 10:30 a.m.

Workers with the animal shelter went to the park near York Street and Taylor Avenue, where they found the puppies in a box behind a flower photo booth.

The puppies appear to have been between two and three weeks old.

They say it’s difficult to determine how or when they died.

Peoples Animal Welfare Society has been notified.
