Flamborough variety store target of theft by 6 women

A family-run variety store in Flamborough was hit by a group of six women in a weekend theft.

The women entered the store early Saturday evening and some of them started up a conversation with staff members while they paid for a few items.

During the discussion at the cashier area the store owners realized that some of them were trying to conceal and steal various items. A few of the suspects even entered the residential area of the business and opened closets and drawers.

Realizing what was happening the store owners confronted the group and forced them to leave the premises. During the interaction, one of the store owners was allegedly bit by one of the suspects.

The women were seen leaving the area in a black SUV which had been parked nearby.

The suspects have been described as between 25 and 60 years old and wearing dark winter clothing. A number of them were had headscarves and head coverings.

Police have reason to believe that there have been other thefts or attempted-thefts similar to the Flamborough store case in other areas.
