Niagara police investigate stabbing in Welland

Niagara police are investigating a stabbing in Welland.
Police say at around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, officers responded to a reported disturbance in the area of Thorold Road and Rice Road.
Officer says they located an 18-year-old man suffering from an apparent stab wound. The man was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to an out-of-town trauma centre.
The man’s condition has since been upgraded from critical to stable condition.
Detectives say they have identified two young suspects and arrest warrants are being prepared. The identities of the suspects cannot be revealed because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada.
Police say this was a targeted incident and that the victim and suspects are known to one another.
