Niagara Falls’ NYE concert ‘moving ahead as planned’ despite COVID-19 surge
Niagara Falls Tourism says its New Year’s Eve bash is still on despite the recent surge of COVID-19 cases across the province.
Chantal Suthons, Director of Marketing & Communications, says the concert at the Scotiabank Convention Centre on Dec. 31 will be “moving ahead as planned.”
The concert will feature performances by Blue Rodeo, Serena Ryder and Crown Lands. Fireworks are also planned for 9 p.m. and midnight.
The city of Mississauga recently announced the cancellation of its New Year’s Eve fireworks show as Omicron cases continue to soar.
Jodi Robillos, Commissioner, Community Services, said while it was a tough decision, it was “absolutely necessary” to keep residents safe.
Niagara Falls Tourism says the NYE concert will have public health protocols in place.
Attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to access certain businesses and settings, including restaurants and venues for Niagara Falls Music Live events. Proof of vaccination and government-issued identification will be checked at venues.
Organizers say ticketholders will be notified of any minor schedule adjustments.
