Tim Hortons and its restaurant owners in Ontario are expected to build or renovate 214 restaurants, with plans to build one new restaurant in Hamilton and renovate six this year.

This is part of a national plan to invest $400 million to better serve guests, support local communities and create meaningful, ongoing work for local and regional tradespeople across the province.

Canadian restaurant owners are investing $270 million nationally, in addition to Tim Hortons corporate investing an extra $130 million, with the intention of building or renovating 480 restaurants across the country.

In Ontario, 26 new restaurants are opening this year, while 188 locations are being renovated including in Beamsville, Brantford, Burlington, Oakville and Niagara Falls. This represents a total investment of about $165 million into local communities.

A press release says Tim Hortons is more than where Canadians grab their morning coffee but is also one of Canada’s most significant economic engines. Owners are proud to pour back into their communities.

Tim Hortons says renovation and construction material for restaurants are sourced through Canadian-owned businesses. Most items are manufactured on Canadian soil, every piece of signage is designed, fabricated and installed by the country’s suppliers and restaurant artwork is created by Canadian artists, according to the restaurant chain.

“Tim Hortons was built in Canada by Canadians and we are proud to continue investing in Canada to give our guests beautiful, modern restaurants to enjoy,” Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons says. “These are Canadian families investing their own money in their own communities and that’s something we’re proud of.”
