New Liberal caucus meets

Kathleen Wynne was in a celebratory mood Tuesday as she addressed her “bigger caucus” for the first time since last week’s election gave the Liberals a majority government.

Wynne was grinning ear to ear as she stood in front of her caucus and said, well done all of you.

She said the message the party got from voters last week was — move Ontario forward; invest in roads and bridges and transit, in education and in training. Implement retirement security. Partner with businesses and eliminate the deficit by 2018.

She said, those policies define the activist centre she believes in, and they are what she will implement. but she also told Liberal members not to be too smug.

Kathleen Wynne said: “I’ve been asked a lot in the last few days, what happened, how did you win. I think we worked hard to earn the trust of the people of Ontario and now we have to keep it. And continue to earn it. Because it’s not like 100 per cent of the people of Ontario voted for us.”

MPP’s will be back to work on July 2nd. That’s when the legislature is recalled. There will be a speech from the throne, and the budget the Liberals tried to pass in the spring will be tabled.
