Need for Speed

Need for Speed is an adaptation of the popular racing video game series. Aaron Paul stars as Tobey Marshall, a mechanic who is set up by an associate and sent to prison. After his release, he enters into a cross country road race to get revenge on the man who framed him. Need for Speed also stars Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Ramón Rodríguez, Michael Keaton, and Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi.

As a former stuntman, director Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) isn’t a big fan of CGI. Therefore, many of the action set pieces and car chases in the film were done with practical effects. The stars had to undergo rigorous training to operate the high performance vehicles seen in the film. Paul was originally being considered for the role of the film’s antagonist, but Waugh felt he could do more in the lead and fought to get him the part.

Need for Speed is rated PG.
