Mulcair promises tourism money

Federal NDP Leader Tom Mulcair brought his campaign for change to Niagara Falls Monday morning with a pledge to provide more money for the tourism industry if his party forms the next government. Mulcair was joined by former city councillor and NDP candidate, Carolynn Ioannoni. The NDP Leader used Niagara Helicopters as a backdrop to talk about his plan to help small business and tourism.

“Business and tourism deserve a federal partner that’s reliable and that works with them to showcase Canada to international visitors. That’s why an NDP government will support the tourism industry with an investment of $30 million for Destination Canada over the next 3 fiscal years to reverse some of the damages done by Stephen Harper,” Mulcair said.

Mulcair says federal tourism spending has dropped during the Harper government’s term in office. He says his three-year proposal targets American tourists to visit Canada.
