More funding needed for Six Nations Fire Department

The Six Nations Fire Department says it doesn’t get enough money from Ottawa to effectively save lives and fight fires. They have reached out for help from the Harper Government with no response.

Six Nations is the most populated First Nations reserve in all of Canada and gets the least amount of money.  More than 12 000 people live here but Six Nations Fire Department only receives $350 000 to serve them when it needs nearly $2 million.

 

In an admittedly desperate move, Matthew Miller, Six Nations Fire Chief invited the Province’s Public Safety Minister there today. In the hopes his message will be carried to the Federal Government.
