Hamilton police and the Ministry of Labour are investigating after three men became trapped under a collapsed porch at a residential construction site.

Officials say emergency services responded to a construction-related incident on Green Mountain Road in Stoney Creek shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

In an email to CHCH News, police say that a concrete porch at the residential construction site collapsed, trapping three men working at the site underneath.

All three men were extricated and transported to hospital. One of the men sustained a serious leg injury. At this time, the extent of the other injuries is not considered life threatening.

Green Mountain Road was temporarily closed between Fifth Road East and Sixth Road East while emergency crews attended the scene. The roadway has since been reopened.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified and will be investigating with assistance from Hamilton police as required.
