Medical marijuana users get a pass

Medical marijuana users in Ontario are getting a pass in the province’s e-cigarette law.
That legislation says the same no-smoking rules that apply to tobacco would also apply to e-cigarettes. However the group Canadians for Fair Access to Medical Marijuana lobbied to allow its use, particularly when vapourized. The group says many patients choose to take their prescriptions this way, rather than smoking it.
The province is amending the legislation.
Today at Queen’s Park, Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath was asked what she would do if she were in a restaurant where someone was smoking medical marijuana. Laughing, she said “I’ll probably eat more.”
Horwath went on to say that the province needs to consider Health Canada’s recommendations about medical marijuana use in public places.
