Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is going to Paris next week, where she will declare that Ontario is serious about cutting carbon emissions.

“Ontario is already working on GO regional express rail and LRT projects that will electrify massive portions of our transit system as well as provide dramatically improved service.”

But it’s not just transit that the province wants to electrify, it’s the family car, as well: ” so the strategies also include help for more households to switch to ultra-low or zero emission vehicles.”

The broad brush strokes for battling climate change covered everything from a provincial cap and trade policy, to overhauling the building code. One thing that wasn’t specifically covered, was the cost: “there will be some costs, and part of the re-investment of revenue from the cap and trade system will go to mitigate those costs.”
