Man who shot new cars with rifle is charged in Grimsby

Niagara Regional Police detectives in Grimsby have been conducting an investigation into incidents of brand new cars being shot at with an air rife.
Police say multiple cars at the Grimsby Ford, Kia and Chrysler lots have been damaged since February of 2021. Damages are believed to be more than $17,000.
On June 23, 2021, Travis Jacob Walters (33 years old) of Grimsby was arrested and charged with 7 counts each of:
- Unauthorized possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a firearm in a car
- Mischief Under $5000.00
Walters has been held in custody in order to attend a video bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on June 24, 2021.
Back in May, police were originally called to South Service Road and Industrial Drive for a report of a suspicious car: A 2016 red Hyundai Tuscon.
An officer arrived on scene and when they approached the driver, they saw a black Gamo Swarm Fusion 10x GEN 2 Air Rifle laying on the front seat. The driver was arrested and searched.
Police also found a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
Travis Jacob Walters (33 years old) of Grimsby had originally been arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle
- Possession of substance (Crystal Methamphetamine)
