7 vehicle crash leaves one dead on Highway 400

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says one transport truck and six passenger vehicles crashed around 7 this morning on Highway 400 South of Finch Avenue.
Schmidt says one of those cars was consumed by fire and the person inside was pronounced dead on scene.
All other occupants sustained minor injuries.
“Witnesses reported hearing screeching tires and saw the transport truck plowing in the back of slowing or stopped traffic. The collision resulted in a chain reaction.”

Expect delays in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 at Finch until this afternoon as it will be closed for the investigation.
