Seven people charged with First-Degree Murder in Brantford homicide

Brantford along with Provincial Police (OPP) have charged seven people with first-degree murder after a joint investigation called “Project Grantham.”

The investigation was created after the homicides of 22 year-old Coby “Kareem” Carter of Hamilton, 62 year-old Dorothy Lynn Vanevery, and 64 year-old Larry Reynolds both of Brantford.

On July 8, 2019 officers responded to a home on Colborne St West in Brantford and located a man, deceased. On July 18, 2019, police were called to a home on Park Road South, also in Brantford, and located a man and a woman, both dead.

Brantford Police and the OPP have arrested and charged 24 year-old Abdelaziz Faiz Ibrahim of Hamilton with First-Degree Murder in connection with the death of Coby “Kareem” Carter.

Six more people were arrested and charged with two counts each of First-Degree Murder and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the deaths of Lynn Vanvery and Larry Reynolds.

That includes:

  •  Malik MBUYI, 20 years old of Toronto,
  •  Nathan HOWES, 31 years old of Brantford,
  •  Dylan ALRIDGE, 24 years old of North York,
  •  Terrell PHILBERT, 22 years old of York,
  •  Thomy BAEZ-EUSEBIO, 23 years old of Toronto, and
  •  Salloum JASSEM, 32 years old of Brant County.

All individuals remain in custody. Investigators have determined that Vanvery and Reynolds were not the intended target.
