A 58-year-old man has been rushed to hospital following a shooting in Niagara Falls Tuesday morning.
Niagara police say they responded around 9:30 a.m. to reports of a person shot at a long-stay motel in the area of Queen Street and Zimmerman Avenue.
The shooting appears to have involved a second-floor unit, but evidence markers are spread throughout the parking lot.
Paul Anderson, the volunteer manager of the motel, says it’s scary to know someone was shot just steps away from where he was sleeping.
“Usually it’s a quiet area. People keep to their own business,” Anderson says.
“Shocking? Yes, very shocking to me.”

Police confirm a man was shot and taken to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.
Officers wouldn’t say whether the victim knows the suspected shooter, but say they are certain the shooting was targeted.
“There is no danger to the public at this time,” says Niagara police Const. Jessica Martin.
There are no road closures, however, investigators are asking the public to avoid the area.
