UPDATE: A 61-year-old Hamilton man died after his kayak capsized at Binbrook Conservation Area Wednesday afternoon.

“While we had significant deployment for the search for the missing child, we faced treacherous weather conditions. A short, very intense storm happened and during the storm, a kayaker who was on the lake capsized,” says Ben Thibodeau with Hamilton police.

Crews pulled the man from the water and transported him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have confirmed this is an unrelated incident and the death is not considered suspicious.

The missing child has since been found dead in the conservation area’s lake.
