Police say missing boy, 7, found dead at Binbrook Conservation Area

Hamilton police say a seven-year-old boy, who was last seen in the Binbrook Conservation Area on Wednesday, has been found dead in Lake Niapenco.

Officers put out a plea for help early Thursday morning after Nathanael Selambi was last spotted around 3 p.m. on Canada Day.

Authorities say there was a crowd of about 1,000 people at the conservation area when Selambi disappeared from his family.

“[His family] said he was here and was having a really good time and was really fascinated with the water structures as any kid would be,” says Const. Adam Kimber from Hamilton Police.

The Conservation area says lifeguards are stationed throughout the park and lifejackets are required.

Police say they looked into every possibility, including searching cars at the park yesterday in case he’d been abducted.

But police divers found the boy Thursday afternoon in the water.

The police department is thanking the public for their support.
