Man charged in hit-and-run killing Boris Brott previously convicted of dangerous driving

Court documents obtained by CHCH News show that Arsenije Lojovic was previously convicted of dangerous driving, and was on probation at the time of the hit and run that killed Hamilton conductor, Boris Brott.
Back in August of 2019, 33-year-old Arsenije Lojovic rented a van and drove through Nelles Beach Park in Grimsby. The park was crowded at the time but no one was hurt.
Lojovic pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and in October of 2020, he was sentenced to 18 months probation and a 12-month driving ban for his crime.
Lojovic was still on probation for that dangerous driving offence at the beginning of April when he was charged in relation to the fatal hit and run that killed renowned conductor Boris Brott.
78-year-old Brott was struck on Park Street South near Markland on April 5th. Police say Lojovic fled the scene of the crash and was later arrested on the Hamilton mountain.
While Lojovic was still on probation, his ban on driving was over by the time the hit and run occurred.
Lojovic is currently in custody facing charges of dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident causing death, and failure to comply with probation.
