Making their mark for cancer research

Hellbender Ink Vintage Tattoo in Smithville is running its third annual cancer ribbon tattoo event this month.
The minimum donation is $25 per ribbon, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. With just two previous events, Hellbender Ink has been able to donate $7,300.
Dora Wren was in the shop today getting a ribbon on her arm to remember friends and family she’s lost. “I figured it would be a good way to commemorate those who I’ve known and loved and have past and are still fighting.”
Hellbender Ink owner Doug Newton is hoping to raise $10,000 this time.
“The cancer event runs for the entire month of April and if we can not schedule to get you in here because it is so busy you are able to get a $25 gift certificate for a cancer ribbon any time in the next year.”
“So even if you want to come in any time in the month to get a gift certificate your $25 donation will go towards the cancer society.”
The tattoo parlor is located on Griffin St in Smithville.
