Lock it or lose it campaign

The Niagara Regional Police Service are rolling out the “Lock it or Lose it” campaign this week.
Police are taking to parking lots looking for unlocked vehicles. Cards will be left on unlocked vehicles. Chief Jeff McGuire says they want to remind motorists to lock their vehicles: “Lots of GPS hanging from the windshields, easy scores. I saw a laptop on the back seat of a car over there. We found a full purse, it looks like it’s full. Of course we don’t open the doors. A number of shopping bags where people have gone in to do some shopping and have come out, loaded up the car a little bit, and gone back in. That’s something that the organized thieves actually target and watch for.”
McGuire says it’s especially important to remember to lock up as we approach the Christmas season.
