The Humane Society of Oakville, Milton and Halton (HSOMH) urgently seeks public support after taking in 27 cats and kittens from one home on Thursday.
The ages of the cats and kittens range from three months to three years old.
None of them had previously received veterinary care and will need full medical treatment before they are available for adoption.
One cat underwent emergency surgery for pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection.

The shelter located in Oakville says every cat and kitten requires a wellness exam, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping and ongoing daily care. They say any specialty medical care requirements will also be provided but the cost to care for the group is about $30,000.
HSOMH is a non-profit organization that does not receive government funding, relying on donations from the community to provide care for vulnerable animals and operate its charitable programs and services.
The Executive Director of HSOMH Jeff Vallentin says, “When large-scale intakes happen unexpectedly, costs escalate very quickly. We are asking our community to step forward and help these cats receive the care they need.”
Community members wanting to make a donation can do so in person at the animal centre located at 445 Cornwall Rd., Oakville or online.
